There's a hint of amusement over Jim's uncertainty, but her smile is kind. "Most of the people here do magic, it's true. But not all of them are scholarly Durants, and our family is eternally curious. It will not be as difficult for you to hold a conversation as you think, I promise."
Lieselotte moves to stand beside him rather than in front of him, so they can better observe the crowd together. "We have businessmen and artists, researchers and politicians. If you like I will introduce you to some of them and then you'll see there's no need to feel uncomfortable."
