His eyes drift away and his new emotions take the place of his previous surprise. Embarrassment, self-consciousness, uncertainty. It's a while before he admits, "I'm real curious about him. Not for bad reasons or nothin', which... Probably ain't easy to trust, I know, but... He's a real kinda mystery to me? I really wanna know what happened to him. Why he disappeared, if he's alive or if he ain't, what drew him to the family in the first place, everything." And then as an after-thought he tacks on a meek, "Sir."
