Felix is smiling at him quite innocently when he catches Jim's eye. He maneuvers them deftly into an opening in the Archon's circle of courtiers and catches the eye of the fellow playing chief attendant - or is it bodyguard? - to the Durant-in-chief. Only once he seems agreeable does Felix step forward to approach the Archon himself with a courteous bow. This is all theater, and it's important to know your cues.
