It doesn't surprise her that Felix is at the party, too, although she would have been hard pressed to guess who was the Plus one. "Have you met Viatorus before? He's very nice. I'm hoping to meet Runa, but I haven't seen either of them, not since their ceremony."

Considering that she was sitting all by herself until just now, it's probably safe to assume that she didn't bring a Plus one.

"No, not really. At least, not ones full of people I don't know." She hears the hesitation in Jim's reply, and smiles in commiseration. "Yeah, me too. I've read a little bit about the magic in this world, but it's all so foreign to me." Her smile quirks into a small grin and she adds, "Felix must be having a nice time, even if his magic is different. He's like a biologist at a chemistry convention."

She immediately regrets her joke. Jim is probably too cool for nerd humor.
