westfallcorndog: (Holy Light How Horrifying)

Anna abandoned him and there he is, left standing, staring, looking like a blank-faced thrall awaiting orders in a rushing sea of chatting, rich breathers. So when someone is charging up to him, all fire and will, it takes him by surprise. Has he done something wrong? Is he offending her with his presence? He fucked up, didn't he? His thoughts swim with an anxiety that he tries not to show on his face. He keeps his feet planted but leans back as she approaches, until he finally can't keep his balance anymore and has to take a step back. With that his hard expression cracks into something more nervous, almost queasy.

He asks in a slow, dejected way, "Am I offendin' you somehow, Ma'am?" Because that's always it, isn't it? They're always offended by the dead.
