'One of the newer guests' definitely describes the Captain.
Jim has been politely following around a slightly taller dark haired man in a gold and red set of robes around for much of the socializing that's been done this day. It's plain to see his role seems to be similar to hers. He smiles in all the right places and backs up his partner whenever it seems as though the conjurer may be at a loss for words but always always defers to him in both verbage and body language.
He's by himself though when approached, thanking one of the servants for the brandy he's now holding while he looks around in a quiet interest. He's paying attention to far more than he lets on.
"Ah, but of course I am. Thank you for your hospitality." Mindful of his manners, Jim will set his drink aside (on a coaster no less) before he moves to greet Lieselotte. "It's good to finally meet Viatorus' family."
